Ingredients

  • 1⅓ cups sugar
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1/2 cinnamon stick
  • 3-4 cloves
  • 1 vanilla bean
  • 1 kg (4 Pears)

Instructions

  • Put the sugar and 3 cups of water in a pan over low heat. Stir until the sugar is completely dissolved.
  • Bring to the boil and add lemon juice, cinnamon, cloves and vanilla.
  • Peel the pears but keep their stalks.
  • Place them upright in the saucepan.
  • Cover and slowly cook until tender.
  • Serve pears with pouring syrup over.
